Punxsutawney Phil is not the only Groundhog that will go to work on Monday morning.

Monday February 2nd is Ground Hog Day and most everybody is familiar with the weather prognosticating groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil.  But did you know that there are many groundhogs across the country that predict whether the remainder of winter will be long or short?   And of course there are events associated with these groundhogs’ visual acuity.  Here is a map to find Groundhog Day events across the United States and Canada:

Find Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations, Observances and Other Events

Monday, January 19th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.   The Federal holiday was established on November 2, 1983 when President Ronald Reagan signed the bill in the White House Rose Garden.  Martin Luther King Day was first observed on January 20th, 1986.

In addition to MLK day being a Federal holiday with schools and Federal government offices being closed, many celebrations, remembrances, and events are held on or around the Monday it is observed.

To help you find a way to participate in honoring Dr King, MapMuse has a map with over 400 events across the country.  Here is a link to the map showing the closest events to you.
